On the back of the photograph is handwritten in pencil 'FIRST RESIDENT MAGISTRATE' and then hand written in dark ink 'W.K. Adam died at sea 12th Dec 1900 Lat 3-50-45-S Long 88-46-45-E Requiscent in peace'.
At the bottom of the back of the photograph is handwritten in red ink 'FROM HERZEL W. BAKERFIRST SECRETARY AND FOUNDATION MEMBER KATANNING HISTORICAL SOCIETY-LATER SEC. ROYAL HIST. SOC OF WA'
