Photograph - Acton Park 50th Reunion 1974
1974Colour photograph of a group of approximately 177 people standing and sitting in from of tin hall with a sign reading "Back to Acton Park" 1974
Acton Park Hall was officially opened in 1924.
This photograph was taken in 1974 - celebrating 50 years.
Acton Park Hall, a central part of Acton Park, Busselton, was built in 1924. This was part of the Group Settlement Scheme in the 1920s, where families were relocated to the area to establish farms. The hall was one of many built for this scheme, which aimed to develop a dairy industry in the South West.
The hall, located on Acton Park Road, is the site of Group Settlement No. 28, which was established in the 1920s.
Like most community halls in those days, it was the setting for many local events - weddings and wakes, cricket games, dinner dances, tennis, field days and the annual Christmas tree.
