GOLF OPENING DAY 2024

The 2024 Golf Opening Day and City of Melville Cup event saw the traditional ceremonial golf ball tee off conducted.
This photograph shows President Ken Norquay, City of Melville Mayor Katy Mair, Captain Mike Petkovich and Vice President Mark Bonser on the first tee.
Following speeches by the President, Mayor, and Captain, the Captain Mike Petkovich had the honour of performing the tee off using the same four wood used by Mayor Ron Carroll on the original opening day in 1969. Mike's task was a difficult one given that the club is right-handed and himself a left handed player. After an initial swing and a piece of turf being displaced, he successfully managed to move the ball down the fairway with his second attempt accompanied by applause from those members watching.
