GREENS REPLACEMENT PROGRAM 2024

During 2024 the third and final stage of the greens replacement program was undertaken.

The first picture shows the course staff completing the 007 bent grass replacement on the putting green outside the clubhouse in late April 2024. As part of the replacement the green was enlarged and joined onto the second and lower putting green located on the southern side and outside the gazebo.

The turf used for the replacement was obtained from leftover growth in the nursery from the 2023 program and the grass on the short practice hole beside the chipping green. That latter component required the practice hole green to be resown with grass just after the nursery was also resown to provide turf for the final six course greens replacement later in the year.

The commencement of the process to replace the grass on greens 1 to 6 was announced by the General Manager on 25 July 2024, with preparations for the creation of temporary greens during August. This announcement appears in the second attachment.

The third attachment provides details of the timetable and process to be used to implement the program with Monday 16th September identified as the starting date. With the six holes out of play a temporary course configuration was established and this is described in the fourth attachment.

The fourth attachment is a progress report from Course Superintendent Dane McBride mid-way through the replacement progress.

The fifth attachment shows the course staff re-laying the new 007 bent turf on the 5th hole in the same week as the progress report.

Newsletter October 2024 provides a review of the program after the new turf had been replaced.

In th efinal attachment dated 15th November 2024 Course Superintendent Dane McBride announced the projected opening of the six holes for play on Friday 22nd November.
