Mayoral Chain - Gold Metal Chain With Blue Ribbon, 1968
1968Mayoral chain on blue ribbon. Has 24 small scallops and one large scallop which are supported by a chain and backed by a blue ribbon. The chain supports a City of Melville crest showing a kangaroo and an emu and the date 1st May 1968. Chain is presented laid on blue velvet in a covered box.
Presented to Council 1 May 1968 and used by subsequent Mayors when presiding at official ceremonies. Originally presented to Mayor Ronald Francis Carroll OBE JP to open the Melville Civic Centre in 1968.
Samuel Gunther Boyd was apprentice to Mr Middlewick Jnr and then ran the business 'Middlewick' for 40 years.
