Soldiers Memorial Hall and Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale offices 1898 - 1949
The photograph shows the Soldiers memorial Hall on the left and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale offices on the right. The Agricultural Hall, a wooden building, was built in 1898 at a cost of 335 pounds, partly funded by a Crown grant of 250 pounds. It was vested in the Serpentine Road Board on 1904. A Progress Association was formed in 1920 and very soon a fund was set up to raise money for the building of a soldiers Memorial in the form of an addition to the Agricultural Hall. It then became the soldiers memorial Hall and was opened in 1923. A WW1 honour roll was placed on either side of the new doorway. The building on the right was built in 1949 as the Serpentine Jarrahdale Road Board building and operated as such until 1972 when the new administration building was built. Later this building became the Mundijong Public Library.
