PHOTOGRAPH (COPY): HUMES WORK YARD, MELBOURNE
c. 1920 - 1929Black and white image of a large, open work shed at the Humes work yard in Melbourne. The roof of the shed is held up by several wooden supporting beams, and there is a shallow trench with a set of tracks running along the length of the building to the left. A wagon can be seen on the tracks with three workers loading up pipes to be transported. Numerous workers and industrial machinery can also be seen in and around the building and the yard.
These photographs collected for 'Subiaco Industry' exhibition at the Museum 1998. Photographs collected from Humes, Subiaco, now at Welshpool and owned by CSR. Humes one of many industries which moved, or closed prior to Subi Centro development.
