LUCY BUTTERLY AT THE BYEEN
1890A black & white photo of a young Lucy Butterly (b. 1871) dressed in riding habit standing by her horse. The horse has a side saddle atop a horse blanket upon his back. He also has a bridle with a nose band, and has the reins looped around the saddle horn, standing perfectly still.
Lucy's riding habit consists of a long skirt & a well fitted long sleeved, wide cuffed, and buttoned top. A neat riding hat is upon her head. She is holding a riding crop in hands that are gloved.
Behind horse and rider are steps leading up to the brick residence of the Byeen. A sash window is seen behind the horses head. Garden plants surround the steps.
Lucy was the youngest child of James and Catherine Butterly, of The Byeen, north of Toodyay. She was born in 1871 and died in 1954.
