Overview

Head and shoulders portrait of Mabel King in decolletage bodice with lace fichu around shoulders, caught at centre front with large fabric flower. Hair piled on head in loose, full chignon.

Historical information

Mabel Emma King (1882-1973), daughter of James Phillip King (1851-1923) and Elizabeth Pratt (1857-1936), was born in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia on the 3rd April 1882.

Married John Bruce Hendry (1882-1964) on the 11th March 1914.

John and Mabel had two daughters:

Patricia Hendry (1915-2015)
Mary Beth Hendry (1918-2006)

Mabel died on the 18th May 1973, aged 91.
