Overview

Rectangular, cream plastic box with slightly domed lid, hinged at one end. The lid has the zig-zag stitch patterns illustrated on the lid with additional text as shown below.

Historical information

This zig-zag pattern attachment was manufactured in Switzerland by the Singer Sewing Machine Company in the 1950s. It was designed to attach to older sewing machines, that could only do straight stitch, allowing them to now do a slanting or zig-zag stitch.
The attachment was owned by Mrs Bower who used the attachment on her Davies Sewing Machine (AK1975.111). The Davies Sewing Machine was manufactured in Dayton Ohio in the United States of American between 1868 and 1924.
