c. 1927Crest shaped blue and white enamel ‘RSL’ lapel badge, with “40” clasp at top within crown, and yellow metal centre depicting a sailor and a soldier holding rifles. A blue enamel circle in centre with gold lettering in dark red enamel scroll. Two lugs on rear with no split pins.

“40” clasp at top of badge with gold lettering “RETURNED SAILOR & SOLDIER IMPERIAL LEAGUE” within blue enamel band around centre, and “AUSTRALIA” in black enamel scroll at bottom. On rear “AUSTRAL ENGY CO / HAY ST PERTH / WA” with “9737” stamped at bottom.
Part of collection of items handed down through the family this RSL lapel badge belonged to Albert George SCOTT, who enlisted on the 12 January 1915 and assigned to the 10th Light Horse, 4th Reinforcement. Albert returned to Australia on the 22 January 1917.
