WASH STAND, ENGLISH MAHOGANY
1810Varnished timber cabinet with edged top on three sides.
Has six metal legs with original brass castors.
Has one top drawer, two cupboards and three smaller drawers below side by side. The long drawer is a false one, however the small drawers and cupboards are real. The central drawer pulls out with space for a bowl to fit, known as a commode drawer.
The drawers are oak lined with fine dovetail joints, no slip is used.
Reputed to have belonged to Captain Dempster.
At some point the original top has become separated and a jarrah one was made to replace it using the Regency influenced wave back gallery and shaped side returns.
