Scrubby background. Above and on either side of image is brass Rising Sun badge. Bellow two badges. Left badge wreath with bayonet down middle. Right badge Diamond shape with rising sun beams on middle, with anchor and crown on top. Text along bottom. Under this are three medals. Left medal (Australian Active Service Medal 1945-75) has blue, green, light blue, yellow and red striped ribbon. 7 pointed star and text on medal. Middle medal (The Korea Medal) has yellow and blue striped ribbon. Medal has text and bust of Queen Elizabeth II. Third medal (United Nations Service Medal Korea) Light blue and white ribbon. Medal has text and image of the word boarded by a laurel wreath, is symbol of the United Nations. Text plaque at bottom on green border with text.

Historical information

Private Gerald William Russell born 12 January 1932 in Armadale. Enlisted with the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment 22 February 1953. Was sent to Korea with the 3rd Battalion in early 1953, part of the Australian contingent of the United Nations coalition combating North Korean forces. Was killed in action in a skirmish along the 38th parallel in Korea on 12 May 1953.
