Historical information

Robert James Brockman (1812-1897) was a pastoralist and farmer with properties at Northam, Gingin, Moore River and Greenough.
William Doyle (1829-1905) was convicted in Ireland of cattle stealing, and was sent to Western Australia on the Robert Small in 1853 (no.2137). He married Mary Ann Walsh at Moore River and later became a tenant farmer at Walkaway.

Contextual Information

As well as having a flour mill and general store at Greenough, John Maley also had brick kilns where bricks were made to build his house and to sell to others.
