Promissory note written for J. McDonnell
1865hand written letter on faint blue-lined paper with pink stripes
John McDonnell (1838-84) was a free settler and tenant farmer for Hamersley at Walkaway. As can be seen from this note, he was illiterate.
Anthony Maley (1837-84) was convicted of stabbing and wounding a man with intent, and sent to Western Australia in 1857 (no.4258).
