GENERAL MEETINGS 1990

Three General Meetings were held in 1990.

The proceedings of the Annual General Meeting conducted on 23rd March included:

• The President advising the meeting on several matters including progress on the clubhouse alterations/extensions and widening of the practice tee area.
• The Finance Director spoke to his report in the new booklet style annual report and answer a few questions.
• The fees for 1990 were confirmed.
• The Director of Course explained various components of his report including the change to an automatic watering system and planned 1990 alterations to holes 1, 11 and 14.
• Reports from the Captain and House Director were also confirmed.
• A motion on notice submitted by F. Helfers to amend the Constitution regarding the Board’s right to alter membership limits ‘at their discretion’ was lost after debating had occurred.
• Amongst General Business items, Mr G. Goddard spoke on behalf of the Tree Committee and noted that 500 trees were to be planted this year.

The Special General Meeting on 29th November was called to address three motions:

• Fees for 1991
• Establishment of a new membership category, ‘Transferable Full Member’
• To approve building extensions

The minute book includes documents from the Board and President encouraging members to attend the meeting with an open mind and a detailed document from the Executive Officer informing of projects completed and planned. Also, a letter from the President expressing his concern and specifying actions the Board had resolved to take regarding anti-social behaviour of members.

The fees for 1991 were approved with an amendment.

The building extension motion generated significant debate. Ultimately an amending motion was proposed and approved for the Board to proceed with the preparation of final drawings and costings before presenting this to members.

The new Transferable Full Membership category was also keenly debated before being approved.

The General Meeting on 29th November was conducted immediately after the Special General Meeting. This was called to:

• Conduct elections for Directors of Course and House
• Consider Motions on Notice to
• Allow the (Golf) Professional to sell soft drinks
• Implement a compulsory expenditure levy of $30/month per member
• Specify the playing days for the club championship
• Cease future bookings for trade days

All motions except the first allowing the professional to sell soft drinks were lost.
