Mr Edward Elwell (1783–1869), son of an ironfounder :

Edward Elwell Ltd, founded in 1817 in Wednesbury, England, was a renowned maker of high-quality forged edge tools, including durable meat cleavers. In 1967, the company joined Spearwell Tools Ltd, later becoming part of Spear & Jackson.
