Front Door - John Herring's Cottage

This is the original front door of Mr John Herring's cottage in Queen Street, which was Busselton's first Post Office.
Completed in 1844, it was built on the corner of Queen and Adelaide Streets, near the Victorian Pillar Box. The building was later demolished except for one door which was donated to the Busselton Historical Society.

Front door belonged to Busselton's FIRST official Post Office in the Vasse district.
Constructed on what was originally Busselton’s first campsite, the old Post Office was one of only five operating in Western Australia at that time.
