Inscriptions and markings

Around the edge of the plate at the top reads "AUSTRALI'AS" and at the bottom is "CENTENARY". On the left hand side of the rim in a shield is "1788" and on the right hand side in a shield is "1888".

Underneath the Coat of Arms is "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA"

On the back of the plate handwritten in black ink is "79"
