Sad Iron

Overview

rectangular with rounded point. heavy cast iron, Handle believed to have been added at a later date because handle has been screwed over the top of the trade mark. Grip on the handle is wood painted black. This iron is very pitted and rusty with paint on brackets peeling off

Sad Irons were made from a solid cast iron and were a very common ironing aid for anyone that didn't have electricity
