1948 Western Australian Claxton Shield Series baseball team

The 1948 Claxton Shield was the ninth annual Claxton Shield, an Australian national baseball tournament. It was held in Perth, Western Australia from 7 to 14 August, and was won by Victoria for the second time overall, successfully defending their title from 1947. The other participants were South Australia, New South Wales, and hosts Western Australia.

This photograph was copied from the program of the 1948 Australian Baseball Championship Series, held in Perth, Western Australia. Four of the players pictured—J. Dore, G.B. Shom, G. Dickinson and C. Puckett—were inaugural inductees into the Baseball WA Hall of Fame in 2021.
The program was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Doug Corker.
Of historic significance, this photograph records the images of Western Australian baseballers who achieved a level of excellence in their sport. It is a rare image of the State team and adds significantly to the Museum's collection of Western Australian Claxton Shield Series team photographs.
