Swan Districts Baseball Club cap c.1972
A baseball cap of black cotton fabric with a black top button and an elasticized back. Embroidered in white thread on the front of the crown are the letters 'SD'. The crown is lined with cream cotton fabric which is frayed where the lining joins the visor. The visor is lined with pale green fabric with the handwritten initials 'DAB' faintly visible.
Founded in 1947, Swan Districts Baseball Club is one of the oldest Clubs in Western Australia and boasts an impressive list of records, winning seven consecutive State League Premierships (1953 to 1959); a tremendous record in any sport.
This cap belonged to Don Butler, a long-time member of the Swan Districts club from the early 1960s. His initials, 'DAB', are handwritten under the visor.

A rare example of a 1970s baseball cap from a long-established Western Australian club. The well-provenanced cap adds to the Museum's collection of baseball caps.
