1963/64 Western Australian State baseball team sock

Overview

The Western Australian state colours of black and yellow are represented on this woollen baseball sock from a 1963 or 1964 State team. The toe to just above the heel of the sock is white. Six 4cm-wide horizontal hoops alternating in colour (three black and three yellow) continue up the length of the sock. The top third of the sock is black.

Historical information

Charlie Hodder was selected in the Western Australian State baseball team in both the 1963 Claxton Shield Series in Brisbane and 1964 in Melbourne. He played 1st base. This sock was part of the State team uniform in those years.

Later, in 1976, Charlie was Assistant Coach to Colin Guest for the State team in the Claxton Shield Championship in Adelaide.
