EAST PERTH POWER STATIO TURBO NO 3
1916This Willans & Robinson/Brown Boveri 4MW steam operated turbo alternator was installed in the East Perth Power Station as No 3 unit in late 1916 and commenced generating in March 1917.
The unit is complete and includes a Willans & Robinson 4MW Curtis Wheel type horizontal 2-stage steam vacuum condensing turbine, Serial No. 20764 with governor, valves and connections, extending shaft and coupling.
Brown Boveri Type T700/16, 4412 Kva alternator, Serial No. 9228B (5300 Kva for 1/2 hour rating), 6300 volts, 405 and 487 amps, 2400 rpm 40 cycles.
Attached is Brown Boveri Type GF3006, 23.1 Kw exciter, Serial No. 9210B at 110 volts, 210 amps. The Unit sits on a Willans & Robinson two section cast iron combination bedplate.

Significant as the only remaining Unit from the first 12MW set in 1916. This is the only one of four original alternators and therefore owing to its rarity may have national significance.
