MILK BOILER: BRISTILE, WHITE
c. 1945White glazed earthenware device with circular groove leading to hole near outer rim. Flat on reverse side. If placed in the bottom of the saucepan, when bringing milk to the boil, with the grooved side down, the device will delay the process of 'boiling over' and set up a loud rattle against the base of the saucepan when the milk is about to boil. This saves the milk from boiling over, if the saucepan is removed from the heat source as soon as the rattling commences.
Base: On base, dark blue on white glaze, MILK BOILER. THIS SIDE UP, below crown and Bristile insignia surrounded by Bristile Porcelain Ware.
