COFFEE MUG, BRISTILE
1975Glazed china coffee mug, narrow in lower segment for stacking purposes. China is 4mm thick. Mug is white and has a brown stripe around the centre of the upper section. The brown stripe is broken by a section which has 'TAA' in blue, an aeroplane with a smiling face saying 'Come fly the friendly way', outlined in blue, and Reservations 238413. On the base: Bristile, super vitrified, made in Australia, 6-75 (signifying mon and & year of manufacture).
In 1941 Brisbane Wunderlich took over the site established by the Calyx Pottery in Subiaco in 1921.The names Bristile and Wembley Ware among others were adopted for different ranges of products. In1992 the company was renamed Australian Fine China. It is anticipated that the factory will move from the Subiaco site to Armadale in 2006.
