Overview

Two original B&W images of Scotch College. One of a dormitory and the oudoors image is of boys from the house dormitory. Photos are pasted onto a thin white paper page, which was removed from a small photo album. a) Image shows a long, high ceilinged, narrow room with beds down either side of the room. Boys are either on or in the beds and one boy is perched on top of a cupboard at the end of the room. There are hooks with clothes on them, on the wall down the left side and two tall windows on the right side of the room. Written below the photo in black ink [NO 3 DORM. 1921] and in blue biro [SCOTCH COLLEGE]. Writetn on back of photo in black ink [NO III DORM 1921 / LOHOAR / HELLER / ADAMS / SQUIRES / CREAGH / HIPPER I / LANGLEY / TOZER I / KELLY & MURRAY]. b) Group of ten boys, eight standing at the back and two kneeling in front. All are wearing school jackets/blazers, shirts, ties, above knee length trousers, long socks and ankle boots. Some boys have peaked school caps. On back of photo Written in blue biro below photo [SCOTCH COLLEGE] and in black ink [HOUSE DORM 1922]. Written on back of photo in black ink [PART HOUSE DORM 1922 / BACK ROW / BOOTH / TOZER II / BURTON / THOMPSON / LOHOOR / LEE / HELLER / SQUIRES / DECLINING / STOTT / TOZER I]. On photo in blue biro, letter [A] above Arthur Heller.

Historical information

Boys School founded 1897 in central Perth. Moved to Shenton Rd, Claremont 1905, into a 12 roomed mansion standing on about eight acres. Opened by Sir John Forrest. Subsequently extensively extended.
