Miniature Rising Sun badge engraved metal plaque
c. 1915 - 1945World War One or World War Two era miniature Rising Sun badge engraved metal plaque. It comprises a flat piece of gold tone metal which has been engraved with an image of a Rising Sun badge, but is so small that the full text has been abbreviated to 'AUSTRALIAN C'WEALTH M. FORCES'
The reverse is plain with the exception of a broken tab of metal which formerly attached it to something else - possibly a sweetheart badge or cuff link.
The Rising Sun badge is of the third pattern which was the emblem for the 1st and 2nd Australian Imperial Forces from 1904-1949. It is therefore not possible to be absolutely certain when it was produced.
This is one of several miniature Rising Sun badges in the form of stick pins and brooches held in the collection. Although it has no backing now, it is likely to have formed part of another piece of jewellery at some point.
