WWI era brass and enamel Rising Sun badge 'ANZAC' sweetheart stick pin

The Rising Sun badge is of the third pattern which was the emblem for the 1st and 2nd Australian Imperial Forces from 1904-1949.
On standard uniform hat and collar badges, this pattern features a bottom scroll inscribed with "Australian Commonwealth Military Forces". For this personalised sweetheart stick pin variant, that standard lower text banner was replaced with the words 'Australia New Zealand Army Corps'.

During both World Wars, patriotic military sweetheart items were widely purchased by servicemen to give to their mothers, sisters, wives or girlfriends to wear at home as a token of remembrance and pride.
This is one of several miniature Rising Sun badges in the form of stick pins and brooches held in the collection.

Badges of similar design were produced for a Commonwealth Button Fund ANZAC Day appeal in 1917. They were sold as higher denomination badges/brooches instead of the lower denomination buttons or pins. However, these all had pin clasps for attachment rather than a stick pin.
It is not known if this was made as a sweetheart or fundraising item.
