This gold pendant with a gold chain was presented at a social function held at Walkaway on 19 September 1905, by the P.H.C. to Eena Morrell. The following day she married Franck Clinch at the Wesleyan Chapel, Greenough.
Eena Gertrude Morrell (1879-1969) was the daughter of John F. and Mary Morrell (nee Waldeck).
Francis Edward Mortimer Clinch (1879-1945) was a son of Thomas and Sarah Clinch.
The couple lived at Cliff Grange and then Donnaville Farm, Greenough. They had four daughters and one son.
The pendant was donated in 2011 by Joy Clinch. It originally came with a long gold chain but that had been divided between Eena’s four daughters, Greta, Dora, Hazel and Mary.

Pendants like this from the late Victorian era are not rare. However this pendant with good provenance is indicative of the prosperity of the Greenough community in the early 1900s, and of the high regard considered towards Eena Morrell.
The object 'Gold heart-shaped Pendant' (GMOB0803) is a rare example and has very high aesthetic significance, given its (form, colour, texture). The item has low scientific significance, although being representative of the class COSTUME ACCESSORIES/Jewellery in good condition.
