TEACHER AND PUPILS OUTSIDE BEJOORDING SCHOOL
c. 1875A large faded black and white photo copy print of 23 young boys and girls and their female teacher who is dressed in ankle length skirt and a long sleeved high necked blouse over which is a necklace.
The girls are wearing frocks, aprons, socks and lace up boots and one little one has bare feet as do 3 of the boys who are mostly dressed in knickerbockers, shirts, jackets, socks and lace-up boots.
Two boys have braces and no jackets.
Behind all is a side of the school building, both brick and corrugated iron, in which are two door openings.
Brick chimney on the right.
In 1869 a private school was established on the Syred property in Tenth Road, Bejoording (owned by William Edward Syred and Frances Syred, nee Martin), in a mud-bat classroom constructed for the purpose.
In 1872 the school became a public school managed by the Central Board of Education and in 1875 closed.
