Historical information

Cecil 'Chec' Roy Francis Knight (1888-1956), son of George Cable Knight (1846-1925) and Dora Jane Pace (1848-1980), was born in North Adelaide, South Australia on 13 August 1888.

Enlisted on 20 October 1916 at Blackboy Hill, Western Australia and had WWI service number 18954. His last unit was the 14th Australian General Hospital which occupied the Egyptian Army barracks at Abbassia, on the outskirts of Cairo and with an annex located on the Suez Canal at Port Said. Was an acting Staff Sergeant when discharged on 24 April 1920.

Cecil rode a "Matchless Combination", an innovative heavy-duty rear-suspension frame motorcycle paired with a factory built sidecar. Was known as one of the few motor cyclists to carry a spare tyre.

Married Irene Doris Clarke (1891-1994) in Perth during 1925.

They lived at 1 Dean Street, Claremont. Cecil was secretary to the Government Tender Board.

Was a keen surfer. Secretary and Honorary Organiser of Cottesloe Life Saving & Athletic Club in the 1920s.

Cecil died on 7 April 1956 aged 67.
Irene died on 10 October 1994 aged 91.

Florence Hope Cowan (1900-1974), daughter of Arthur Edward Lewis Cowan (1865-1930) and Elizabeth Margaret Morrison (1878-1946), was born in Fremantle, Western Australia in February 1900.

Lived in Finlayson Street, Subiaco prior to her marriage.

Married Norman Knight Faddy (1899-1957) at Webster Street, Nedlands on 28 September 1928.

Hope and Norman lived at 1 Stanley Street, Nedlands after their marriage.

Hope and Norman had one daughter Lois Margaret Faddy (1930-1997).

Hope moved to Queensland about 1960 where she died on 15 June 1974 aged 74.
