Historical information

Started and owned by Mr Jack Vincent in originally in Hampden Road, Hollywood, first production - 1946-47. Stirling Highway, Claremont 1947-8. Introduction of slit metal conduit. Marketed by McLean Bros. & Rigg. Castings supplied by Metters Ltd in Subiaco. Claremont Crescent land purchased 1953 (9 Claremont Crescent) and new factory built. 1959 partnership was converted to a Pty. Ltd. Company. Further models made as well as other appliances. 1969 business moved to Welshpool and ten-two bedroom units (Claremont Court) were built and sold. 1970 Elray sold to Jalco Products. Many stoves were made mainly for ex-servicemen on meagre budgets, in makeshift housing with limited fixed electrical wiring. Company latterly paid the compliment of having a number of its models copied by Eastern States manufacturers.
