Contextual Information

Taken from the Editorial of Mrs SH Wilson who was Magazine Editor in 1947.
"The wish of our past State President that we should have 200 branches before Conference, has been realized and I hope before another year a further hundred will be added to this and every little or big district will decide that they must belong to our great Association which means so much in friendship, co-operation and help to women in the country; no matter what their politics or religion is, we all work together as a united body of women for the betterment of conditions and we are gradually getting them. Our State Secretary's interesting report revealed the fact that we have seventy-seven Rest Rooms in country towns OWNED by the Association, 8 Seaside Homes and 201 branches and our membership now is 6,500".

Susannah was appointed in 1928. In 1934 she was one of a committee set up to investigate the possibility of publishing the Association's own magazine.

From 1940 - 1951 Susannah was the editor of the 'Countrywoman' magazine.

During WWII with Mrs Meakins, Susannah continued to organise the CWA fruit scheme for outback schools.
Susannah was on the first committee to organise fundraising to build Sunshine Holiday Home, which was officially opened in August 1929 by His Excellency Governor Sir William Campion.
Susannh was the first to support a hostel for students at Northam, which was the site of CWA's first High School Hostel.
