Exterior of Handcraft Room 1170 Hay Street West Perth.
The Handicraft Room was officially opened by Lady McLarty on Monday 16th August 1954, the day before State Conference. The building was the 'Stables' at the foot of the Club grounds and it was converted to make a home for the Handicrafts Committee. It was reported in the September 1954, that the HC had worked very hard to get the rooms ready for the start of conference week and it was hoped many members would visit the rooms while in Perth for SC.
A photo of the room is on the cover of the September 1954 Countrywoman magazine.
It is stated in the State President's report that the Council meeting broke at 11.00am for the official opening of the Handicraft Room. A morning tea followed.
