Early in 1935 Katanning branch discussed the possibility of acquiring a block of land at Albany. A branch of the Association formed in Albany later in the year and an for application half an acre of land at Middleton Beach was granted. Sufficient money was raised to begin building in 1938. In addition to contributions from other branches in the Division, Albany gave two hundred pounds. H V McKay Trust , two hundred pounds WA Charities ten pounds and Conference approved the loan of four hundred pounds from the mortgage on 'Sunshine' with repayments at Fifty pounds annually.
The Albany Seaside Home was built of asbestos and timber and designed as two flats with eight rooms in all, which could be added to at a future date. The cost was Seven hundred and seventy seven pounds eighteen shillings and fourpence. Branches of Southern Division assumed responsibility for the furnishings. The Albany flats were opened in September 1938 by Mrs Burt, State President. A third unit was added in 1947 so that each consisted pf two bedrooms with six beds, kitchen, dinette, bathoom and toilet with combined laundry.
