McDonald House
From Her Name is Woman Page 35.
In 1969 the CWA was approached to play an important part in an experiment designed to rehabilitate psychiatric patients for normal living. The Mental Health Services set up a Housecraft Training Centre called McDonald House where patients with careful and sympathetic guidance of rostered helpers could cook tasty meals, mend and sew, set their hair and take a renewed interest in their appearance. For five days a week CWA members from near and far participated in the roster, giving generously of their time and compassion and at the end of each year enjoyed the crowning achievement of a Christmas Party organised by their pupils.
