Families on the beach at Matilda Bay 1922 - Christmas Day. Grandma Davies; Joan Davies (small child), grandchild of the former. (Boy in background) Alfred Thornhill - grandson. Written on the back 'Taken Xmas Day 1922. The big boy in the background is my Alfie and girl is Jack's Ethel and one behind Grandma's chair is Jack's youngest Evelyn and one with Grandma is Les Joan'.
Families camped for the summer holidays at Matilda Bay, took dray loads of furniture and camping gear. The men joined in at the campsites on the weekends, and lived at home during the working week. The women and children spent many weeks at Matilda Bay, swimming, crabbing and prawning.
