URWIN'S (UNWIN'S) STORE
1973Black and white photo of Urwin's Store, Stirling Terrace, Toodyay, on east side of Freemasons' Hotel.
Three pencil pines on footpath edge.
Hotel has verandah on the second storey. Word 'Bar' on hotel window. Shop front windows; ornate façade with decorations, lower façade on right.
Second shop front; ornate façade with rooms behind façade; three windows across front.
Three cars parked in front, one in immediate foreground. Out of the group of three cars, the first car is a Chrysler Valiant VF 69 model, the second is a Ford Falcon XA 73 model and the third car is a Holden Kingswood HG 70 - 71 model.
This shop was originally known as Urwin's Drapery Store and later known as Caddy & Wilshire's Drapery Store.
The façade today (2022) names the building as "Unwins Store" (with an 'n'), but as it was built for Robert Urwin the name on the front is incorrect. This name was applied in error and it is not the preferred name.
