“The chap in there photos / in a white singlet is / ‘Bob’ Sutherland my / tent mate. A very fine / chap, has been very / good to me. Is an old / S. African soldier so knows / the ropes all right. Doesn’t / drink & sends nearly all / his money home to his wife. / Has got no time for the / ‘Gippos’, & reckons she can / do with it more than / they. So while I stick to / him I’ll be alright.”
