DOUGLAS, CAPT FREDRICK, HOUSE

c. 1900
Overview

A black and white photograph of the residence built for Captain Fredrick Douglas in 1880 and occupied by the Douglas family for many years. The house is still standing at 137 Brunswick Road, Albany. The photo shows a family group of four women, one of the group holding a baby standing in front of the veranda of a single-storey house, immediately behind the gate leading to the front door. Two children are standing outside the gate, and a third is next to the fence at the extreme RH edge of the photo, appearing to be running towards the camera.
