The Western Australian Government Railway Employees' Union was formed in April 1899 to unite all
railway men not included in the Locomotive Engine Drivers' Firemen's and Cleaners' Union. In 1901
the name was changed to the West Australian Amalgamated Society of Railway Employees' Union of
Workers.
