Details
'West Australian' Friday May 29 1936.
'Many fine knitted or woven articles in the wool section of the working display now being given at Boans Ltd were made from wool spun on these two spinning wheels. Mrs E A Broun (left) is spinning on a wheel made in Perth in 1914 and Mrs A G Todd (right) is using a wheel made in the Shetland Isles 234 years ago.'
It was arranged to hold a 'Working Demonstration 'during Empire Shopping week, commencing May 25 in Boan's Fashion Lounge, courtesy of Boans Ltd. and to make a special feature of 'Use More Wool'. As we have a variety of demonstrations it will be very interesting. The exhibition was put together by the Handicrafts and Home Industries section of the CWA of WA. Schedule of the demonstrations and names of the demonstrators can be viewed in 1936 June publication of Countrywoman magazine.
