c. 1940World War Two era airman figurine made from metal in the workshops at R.A.F. Biggin Hill.
He is wearing his blue dress uniform and peaked cap. The tunic has a matching belt, white lanyard, gold buttons, white R.A.F. eagle insignia and rank stripe.

The figure appears to be marching and has his right arm raised in salute.
The base is made from a large washer and his tunic and peak cap from thin sheet metal. His head and body are moulded crudely and he has skinny arms with globular hands.
The whole figurine is painted with gloss enamel paint, some of which has worn off.
One of a pair of metal figurines made in the workshops at R.A.F. Biggin Hill during World War Two, the other being a nurse.
R.A.F. Biggin Hill was one of the eight main Sector airfields for Fighter Command 11 Group, commanded by Keith Park. It had a central role in the Battle of Britain; 340 victories were claimed by the airfield, at a cost of 54 pilots.
