CLUB COMMUNICATION - COURSE SUPERINTENDENT - WET WEATHER - AUGUST 2025
2025This winter has been the wettest winter for over 30 years, with a total of over 590mm of rainfall so far which is over 100mm more than the winter average. Due to this the course has been waterlogged in many areas taking 1-2 days to dry out and return to normal conditions. As a result we have had to use a combination of cart bans, ropes, blue lines and water penetrates to try protect the course during this period.
As most members would have noticed this rainfall and low temperatures have impacted on green speeds and surface conditions. This is due to the excessive moisture creating a softer soil profile, which creates more pitch marks and foot printing and means the greens are not rolled as often as we would like.
The good news is that the end of this long and wet winter is very near as we approach Spring we look forward to the temperatures warming up and the growth of the grass increasing in order for the course staff to showcase this great golf course again.
Thank you for your patience and understanding over this period.
Dane McBride
Course Superintendent
