GALLOP ANN
c. 1870B/W print of studio portrait of a young woman. Her chin is resting on her arm which is supported by an ornate stand, partly covered with a drape. Her hair is parted in the centre and pulled back into a tight chignon. She is wearing a dark, long-sleeved outfit with tight-fitting, buttoned bodice and light trimmng at cuffs and neck. The skirt, which is straight in front, is full at the back and falls into a train. Studio props include an ornate mantle piece, cupboard and footstool. The photo has been mounted on cream board, surrounded by a fine line and has beneath it [STEWART & Co.] and [MELBOURNE] separated by the Australian coat of arms.
The first child, named Ann, died as an infant.] Ann, born in 1847, married William Dalgety Moore, a merchant of Fremantle, at St John's Fremantle in February, 1897.
Children Albert William (B.1881), Anne (b.1880), Iris Vivian (b.1889), Rose Blanche (b.1883) and Winifred Dorothea (b. 1888). Original photos were in a family bible on loan to the Museum.
