Baseball Development Foundation Annual Report 1997-1998
1998A 31-page, A4-size Baseball Development Foundation annual report, 1997-1998. The front and back covers are light-weight pale yellow card, bound with black cloth tape. The name of the organisation, the document title and year date are in black text with double horizontal lines above the organisation's name and below the year date. The black rectangular BDF logo is above the name of the report. Inside pages are black text on white paper with individual sections separated by un-numbered dark yellow pages.
The Baseball Development Foundation (BDF) was formed in 1991 to coordinate and fund development among all elements of the baseball community. Financed initially by a grant from the West Australian Health Promotion Foundation (Healthways) of $280,000, the BDF would promote the health message from the Cancer Foundation "Protect yourself in the sun" over a period of three years. According to the General Manager of the BDF, Ms Jan Thurley, the Foundation was designed to assist players, coaches, scorers and administrators in improving their skills through new and innovative programs.

In 1999 the Baseball Development Foundation, the West Australian Baseball League and the West Australian Junior Baseball League were amalgamated into a single entity named Baseball WA.

This document reports on the operation of the Baseball Development Foundation, which grew out of an identified need to address the increasing numbers of players, coaches, umpires, scorers and administrators being drawn to the game by the twin influences and success of tee-ball and National League Baseball.
The report had been in the possession of Baseball WA and was passed to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives.
The annual report has historic significance as a record of governance of a Western Australian baseball foundation during a 12-month period. It has social significance, reporting on its aims of contributing to the development of the sport and generating sponsorship.
