Mel O’Hern’s involvement in baseball in Western Australia spans 25 years from 1955 to 1980. In 1963 he was awarded the Mickle Medal as the Most Valuable Player in the Western Australian state team competing in the Claxton Shield Series. It was the second of four times that Mel represented the State in the series. The medal was donated by Mel to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives.
This medal is of historic importance as it was only the third Mickle Medal to be awarded. It is a fine example and comes with impeccable provenance from a Baseball WA Hall of Fame inductee.
