Overview

B/W Print. A family group on Christmas morning. Mother in a striped sleeveless dress and father, in shorts and sandals, are standing either end of a child's wooden cot . A young boy in shorts and paper hat is standing astride a hobby horse, and a younger boy in shorts is sitting on the floor. Kneeling on the right is a young girl in patterned shorts and checked top, pretending to drink from the cup of her new teaset, items of which are in front of her and on a tray. Other toys on the floor include a drum, doll, watering can, boat, tractor, car and bulldozer. In the background is a branch set in a tin and decorated with tinsel and few baubles, and a looped, twisted streamer.

Historical information

The family of Herbert and Edith Bennett from Claremont lived on the Cocos Islands from 1954-1956.
