c. 19752 Colour prints. (a) A group of 14 men and four women. The men are standing with the Mayor R.E. Packington in the centre; the women and one man are seated in the front. (b) 15 men standing in a group, with two men and three women seated in the front. There is a patterned carpet, curtains and a framed art work behind the group.
Mayor Raymond Packington was prisoner of war in Northern Italy in 1941. According to the Australian archives, he and wife Janice’s ‘Application by British Migrants for Assisted Passage’ was received in 1955. In 1976, having been a Claremont Councillor from 1966-1972, Mayor of Claremont from 1972-1978, and having conducted many citizenship ceremonies for British migrants, they were naturalised in 1976 and received their citizenship papers form Cr James Anderson, Mayor of Cottesloe, at the Cottesloe Civic Centre.
